Concours Motors, Channel Letter
Concours Motors is an auto repair shop on Thompson Blvd., a main thoroughfare in Ventura, near the 101 freeway. The entire shop is in a white, warehouse-type building with large garage doors that are open during the day for servicing vehicles.
We mention all of these points because they were the key considerations in the decision of how to design the sign for this business.
The location of the shop, on a very busy street, meant that the sign should be large and easy to read by anyone who was driving quickly by. The white exterior of the warehouse has a dark blue border, which is the color of the existing logo for the business. The sign would therefore mimic the existing logo, and compliment the overall “feel” of the building.
To accomplish this we built individual channel letters, with dark blue faces and black edges, to compliment the actual logo, which is blue, black, and red.
We centered the entire sign above the doors of the shop, bringing attention to this section of the building and acting as an invitation to drivers to come in and have their cars serviced.
It is safe to say that of all of the auto shops and retailers on Thompson, Concours Motors is the most pronounced. This is due, largely, to the choice they made to have a bold and attractive sign announce their location, ensuring name-recognition and constant attention for their business.
